Speedy & Paperless Customs Payment Flow Provided by Citi's New CustomsConnect Online Payment Platform in Thailand

August 14, 2007, Bangkok – CustomsConnect, a bespoke product developed by the Citi Thailand Global Transactions Team (GTS) was successfully launched in partnership with The Royal Thai Customs on August 1.

CustomsConnect, which utilizes the Internet-based CitiConnect platform, enables clients to make payments (for taxes and duties levied on imports and exports) securely and directly to the Thai Customs Department.

The new system provides a speedy and paperless customs payment flow. Prior to the implementation of the system, payment was laborious, time consuming and involved a lot of paper work and manual processing.

At the launch were representatives from three local companies Advanced Info Services, Charoen Pokphan Food and SCT who participated in the pilot roll out of the platform. All were full of praise about the platform.

Mr. Woravit Janthanakul, Executive Director of CPF commented "I would like to praise the Citi team for their hard work and dedication in supporting our pilot of CustomsConnect. Also in attendance were close to 300 managers from a range of import/export, logistics and shipping companies. More than 75 existing and prospective clients registered an interest in the product at the event.
