California Governor Schwarzenegger Applauds Public-Private Partnership to Clean up, Develop McClellan Air Force Base
08/27/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement on the public-private partnership related to the transfer of a 62-acre parcel at McClellan Air Force Base to Sacramento County:
“The transfer of this parcel at McClellan Air Force Base to Sacramento County is a huge step forward for expediting the cleanup and redevelopment of the once-booming area. Not only will the environmental cleanup be completed three years ahead of time, but when completed, the business park will bring over a thousand new jobs to the area, giving a boost to the local economy. This project is a perfect example of the benefits that can be realized through public-private partnerships. I commend the work of Senator Dianne Feinstein, our federal representatives, state and local officials who came together to make this possible and I look forward to seeing the completed project realized.”
Today, the United States Air Force is transferring a 62-acre parcel at McClellan Air Force Base to Sacramento County, which in turn is transferring it to a private company for the clean up and redevelopment of the site. This transfer is the collaboration of the United States Air Force; the Department of Toxic Substances Control; the Regional Water Quality Control Board; federal, state and local agencies; McClellan Business Park; and Senator Dianne Feinstein.
