Colorado Governor Ritter Statement On SCHIP Stalemate
Sept. 21, 2007 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter issued the following statement today on President Bush’s renewed threat to veto SCHIP legislation:
“With the House and Senate now in agreement on SCHIP legislation, it’s long past time for President Bush to quit politicizing the basic health care needs of this country’s children.
States around the country – including Colorado – have made their voices crystal clear on this issue: the federal government must reauthorize SCHIP and take care of our kids.
If there’s one thing government at any level should do, it’s to put the best interests of children ahead of politics. Mr. President, it’s time for you to listen.”
