Sam's Club Statement Regarding Minnesota Department of Health Investigation of Frozen Ground Beef Patties and E. Coli Cases

Bentonville, ARK., October 5, 2007 -- the Minnesota Department of Health announced it is investigating four cases of E. coli O157:H7 infection in Minnesota residents associated with eating frozen ground beef patties manufactured by Cargill Inc., and purchased from Sam’s Club beginning August 26, 2007 with an expiration date of February 12, 2008 at Eagan, Maple Grove and White Bear Lake locations.

As a result of the reported illnesses, Sam’s Club is voluntarily removing this product and any current frozen American Chef’s Selection Angus Beef Patties from our U.S. locations and providing full refunds to Members who may have purchased this product nationwide. We want our Members to know we are doing all that we can to resolve this matter with our supplier and the appropriate agencies.

Sam’s Club Members who may have purchased American Chef’s Selection Angus Beef Patties are being asked to return it to the nearest Sam’s Club or destroy it.
