Louisiana Governor Blanco Issues Statement On New Road Home Funding
Nov. 13, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco issued the following statement today while in Washington to thank Congress for its support of the Road Home program. Last week, Congress passed legislation providing $3 billion to Louisiana's recovery housing program. That legislation was signed by President Bush this morning.
"This has been an outstanding victory for our state. I want to thank everyone who has been involved in securing this funding to help Louisiana's homeowners continue to rebuild," Governor Blanco said. "I am especially pleased this action comes during this my ninth visit to Washington since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Funding the Road Home shortfall was the biggest item on my to-do list in my last few weeks as Governor, and I am grateful Louisiana can celebrate this success."
