California Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Vu Nguyen
12/20/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Deputy Vu Nguyen of Modesto, CA:
"Maria and I today pay tribute to one of our brave public safety officers, Deputy Nguyen. He was a tremendous asset to our state, faithfully serving each day in the line of duty to protect our safety. On behalf of all Californians, we extend to his family our deepest gratitude for Vu's service and our sincere sympathies for their loss."
Nguyen, 37, died Dec. 19 as a result of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound while on duty in Sacramento County. He was with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for 7 years. He is survived by his wife, Phanh.
In honor of Deputy Nguyen, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
