Ron Paul: Alaskans’ Choice for a Stronger America
February 3, 2008 -- ANCHORAGE, ALASKA— Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, the only Republican White House contender with an active state campaign and offices in Alaska, enjoys the greatest support from active and former military personnel of all presidential candidates, according to newly-released FEC reports.
The news is particularly significant for Alaska, which is home to four active military bases. Ron Paul is the highest-polling Republican presidential candidate in the state.
The ten-term Texas congressman has received many endorsements from Alaska military veterans, and is the only Republican presidential candidate to have a coalition of veterans, Alaska Veterans for Paul, backing him in the state. He draws supporters from all branches of military service, including Purple Heart recipients, Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force and Navy Achievement Medal winners, and hosts of other decorated veterans.
“Congressman Ron Paul is clearly Alaskans’ choice for a stronger America,” said Paul Alaska state political director Craig Bergman, himself veteran. “Dr. Paul supports Alaska’s troops, and they overwhelmingly support him for President of the United States.”
Added Alaska Navy and Army Veteran for Paul Aaron Gorham, “God bless Mr. Paul and his family for what they are trying to do for this nation that I love!”
Congressman Ron Paul served his country in the Air Force and Air National Guard. He is also a founding member of the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter in Hallettsville, Texas. Regarding his military service, Former President Ronald Reagan said, “Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for this country!”
The Alaska Republican caucus will take place this Tuesday, February 5.
