DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Sgt. Joseph A. Richard III, 27, of Lafayette, Louisiana
April 15, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Joseph A. Richard III, 27, of Lafayette, Louisiana, died April 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), located at Fort Polk, La.
