Cartoon Network Swabs Its Decks to Premiere 'The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack' Thursday, June 5
5/7/2008 -- Cartoon Network invites kids to take a trip to the extraordinary sea village of Stormalong Harbor with a kooky, adventure-seeking kid named Flapjack as it premieres the original new animated series The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Thursday, June 5, at 8:30 p.m. (ET, PT).
The comedy series is centered upon the lives of an impressionable young boy, Flapjack, and his two advice-giving best friends: a crusty old pirate called Captain K’nuckles and a wise-talking blue whale, Bubbie, whose mouth they call “home, sweet home.” Armed with an overwhelming desire to be known as a true “Adventurer,” Flapjack will do anything—and this means anything!—to follow his quest to reach a fabled floating island, no matter the number of insurmountable obstacles or overwhelming dangers he might face. The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is created by Thurop Van Orman and is produced at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, CA.
Raised by Bubbie the talking whale in the bubbling splendor of the sea, young Flapjack once enjoyed a life of peace and tranquility. That all ended the day he and Bubbie rescued a cantankerous old pirate, Captain K’nuckles, from a shipwreck. The seafaring buccaneer’s tall tales quickly tangle up Flapjack’s head like a squid in a Silly String factory, consuming him with an insatiable desire for adventure. Bubbie struggles to protect Flapjack, but little can be done to dissuade Flapjack from following Captain K’nuckles’ well-worn map that he claims will lead them to the greatest treasure he could ever imagine on a magical floating dessert-ed island.
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is executive produced by Thurop Van Orman and Brian A. Miller. Jennifer Pelphrey serves as supervising producer. Voice artists for the primary characters include the series’ creator Thurop Van Orman (Flapjack), Brian Doyle-Murray (Captain K’nuckles) and Roz Ryan (Bubbie).
