Statement By New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg On The Earthquake In China
May 12, 2008 -- "On behalf of all New Yorkers, I want to offer my deepest sympathies to those who may have lost family or loved ones in the devastating earthquake that hit Sichuan Province earlier today.
"This terrible tragedy strikes close to home for many in our city, where some 450,000 people trace their origins to China. To them, and to the people of China, we express the hope that you can soon 'change your tears into strength' - Hua Bei Fen Wei Li Liang."
