Academy Award Winning Film (Best Animated Feature) Will Air in HDTV With 5.1-Channel Surround Sound and Spanish Audio via SAP
Monday, May 19, 2008 -- "Finding Nemo" swam its way into the hearts of moviegoers around the world in 2003 and became not only a critically acclaimed hit but also an Academy Award winner for "Best Animated Feature." Starring a remarkable cast of voices that includes Albert Brooks as Marlin, Ellen DeGeneres as Dory, Alexander Gould as Nemo, Willem Dafoe as Gill, Brad Garrett as Bloat, Allison Janney as Peach, Geoffrey Rush as Nigel and Elizabeth Perkins as Coral, the hilarious family film airs in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish audio, SATURDAY, JUNE 7 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney." "Finding Nemo" tells the heartwarming story of a loving if overprotective father clownfish named Marlin who's forced to muster the courage to venture outside the comfort and safety of his protected reef in search of his son, Nemo, who's been captured by local divers. After Marlin befriends the absent-minded Dory, the two become inseparable and together take on the wide ocean with all its mysteries. Their adventures lead them on a wild ride, where they encounter tenacious sharks, surfer dude sea turtles and squawking seagulls. Meanwhile, on land, Nemo faces obstacles of his own -- dumped into a fish tank, he seems destined to become the pet for a cruel little girl. But along with his newfound friends Gill, Bloat, Peach, Nigel and Coral, Nemo strategically plans his escape back home.
Starring are Albert Brooks ("The In-laws," "The Muse") as Marlin, Ellen DeGeneres (TV Series "The Ellen show," Ed tv") as Dory, Alexander Gould ("They," TV series "Weeds") as Nemo, Willem Dafoe ("XXX State of the Union," "Spider Man 1&2") as Gill, Brad Garrett (TV series "Everybody Loves Raymond," the voice in "Tarzan 2") as Bloat, Allison Janney (TV series "The West Wing," "The Hours") as Peach, Geoffrey Rush ("Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "Intolerable Cruelty") as Nigel and Elizabeth Perkins ("The Ring Two," "Must Love Dogs") as Coral.
"Finding Nemo" was directed and written by Andrew Stanton ("A Bug's Life," "Monsters, Inc."). The film was also co-directed by Lee Unkrich ("Monsters, Inc.," "Toy Story 2"). "Finding Nemo" is from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Distributed by Buena Vista Pictures and Walt Disney Pictures.
