Colorado Governor Ritter Certifies 5th Round Of Transportation Recovery Projects
May 6, 2009 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter has certified a fifth round of transportation projects to be funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The 29 projects are estimated to cost $44.5 million and include a number of RTD and transit upgrades and construction as well as bike trail construction in Pueblo and highway work in the northern Front Range.
Gov. Ritter has now approved $415 million of recovery funding for more than 80 transportation and transit projects around the state.

"I am excited to see that work will soon begin on important transportation projects across the state that will create jobs and boost Colorado's economy," Gov. Ritter said. "As these projects move forward, Colorado will begin to see the impact of the Recovery Act and our efforts to rebuild our economy and transportation infrastructure for the long-term."
Colorado will receive more than $400 million for transportation projects and $103 million for transit projects through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Colorado Department of Transportation has awarded contracts for eight projects worth $24 million and is in the process of awarding five more contracts. Work is expected to begin this month.
