Raytheon Garners US Navy Contract to Continue Producing Radar Warning Receivers

GOLETA, Calif., May 27, 2009 -- An $84 million contract allows Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) to continue production of its ALR-67(V)3 digital radar warning receiver for the U.S. Navy as well as several international customers.

The contract for a base year and three option years of production covers systems for the Navy and the air forces of Canada, Switzerland and Australia. The ALR-67(V)3, a state-of-the-art radar warning receiver on Navy F/A-18E/F carrier-based tactical aircraft, is an integral part of modernization programs for international air force F/A-18 customers.

"We're continuing to expand our international presence on the F/A-18," said Roy Azevedo, deputy vice president for Raytheon's Tactical Airborne Systems business area. "The ALR-67(V)3 is one of several advanced electronic warfare technologies we offer to protect allied forces."

The contract from the Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., calls for deliveries of 86 radar warning receivers plus spares. The international procurements are foreign military sales with potential additional contracts for engineering support and a 10-year performance-based logistics support program.

Deliveries for the first production lot will begin in January 2011 and are expected to be complete by December 2011. This contract represents the 11th full rate production lot awarded to Raytheon. A total of 594 ALR-67(V)3 systems has now been ordered.

Work on the radar warning receiver is being done by Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems business at its Tactical Airborne Systems facility in Goleta with support from facilities in El Segundo, Calif.; Forest, Miss.; and McKinney, Texas. Key suppliers are located in the U.S. and Australia.
