Statement By Florida Governor Crist Regarding President Barack Obama's Announcement On Tailpipe Emission Standards
January 26, 2009 -- “I applaud the President’s decision to ask the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to re-examine California’s request for a federal waiver to regulate vehicle tailpipe emissions under the Clean Air Act.
“The waiver is a critical aspect for California, Florida and 17 other states which have adopted, or are in the process of adopting, automobile emissions standards.
“Florida stands ready to assist the federal government in addressing this important issue, and we will continue our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy security and protect the state’s environment.”
