June 19, 2009 -- GALVESTON – Texas Governor Rick Perry today signed House Bill (HB) 4586, the supplemental appropriations bill that includes $150 million in funding to help the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston recover from Hurricane Ike. Federal Aid to Louisiana for Hurricane Recovery

Governor Jindal Announces $565.5 Million in Federal Aid to Parishes Across State for Recovery from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike

June 15, 2009 -- BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal announced Monday that 53 parishes will share more than $565.5 million in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to aid their recoveries from hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which caused widespread housing and infrastructure damage last year.

Last week, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development notified Louisiana of its second award of disaster recovery funds, meaning the state’s $800 million recovery plan is fully funded.    » read more »

Mobile Home Community Sites To Open In Galveston

March 11, 2009 -- AUSTIN, Texas -- Thursday and Friday are big days for many Galvestonians displaced from their homes as a result of Hurricane Ike. On Thursday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the state of Texas will open a temporary community site for mobile homes in the city of Galveston. Another community site will open Friday in Galveston County on the Bolivar Peninsula.

The new 9-acre community site opening Thursday at Schreiber Field in the city of Galveston holds 54 mobile homes for Texas individuals and families, and one administration building that will be used by on-site management and security. The second park, in High Island on the Bolivar Peninsula, is 9 ½ acres and designed for 50 Texas households.    » read more »
