Rep. Castor Endorses Wall Street Reform Overhaul

Washington, Dec 8 -- Congresswoman Kathy Castor released the following statement today regarding the comprehensive Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act:

“We must quickly and comprehensively reform Wall Street so that the economic collapse we experienced never happens again. We need more accountability and more oversight to rein in the free-dealing that has plagued Wall Street for far too long.

“Last year, I voted against the Wall Street bailout bill because it did not address the root causes of the economic crisis. It gave too much money and attention to help Wall Street rather than the hard-working middle-class families across America and in the Tampa Bay area.    » read more »

Castor Supports Calling Card Consumer Protection Act

Washington, Dec 3, 2009 -- Families who rely on prepaid calling cards should beware of rip offs, Congresswoman Kathy Castor warned today in announcing she will champion the Calling Card Consumer Protection Act. The act will particularly protect folks in Hispanic communities who use calling cards from deceptive and fraudulent practices.

The legislation was the subject of a hearing today held by the House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection.    » read more »

Rep. Castor Highlights Breast Cancer Disparities Bill

Washington, Oct 7 - Congresswoman Kathy Castor, working to eliminate disparities in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, advocated her bill today during a significant hearing on the Subcommittee on Health.
