Udall, Bennet: $92.5 Million for Weapons Destruction at Pueblo Chemical Depot

Funding Included in Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill

November 17, 2009 -- Mark Udall and Michael Bennet, U.S. Senators for Colorado, announced today that the Pueblo Chemical Depot is on track to receive $92.5 million in new federal funding for construction of a facility to destroy chemical weapons stored there.

The funding was included in the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill for fiscal year 2010, which was approved by the Senate by a vote of 100 to 0.

The bill now goes to a conference committee to be reconciled with the version passed in the House. The $92.5 million in funding represents a portion of the money requested for work at Pueblo Chemical Depot.    » read more »

The funds are part of $27.8 million in grants announced this week by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless received $1,865,625 to support electronic health records (EHR) implementation. Introduces bipartisan bill to create tax break for consumers who buy water-saving appliances; Incentive similar to Energy Star program could save families $170 a year on water bills

June 23, 2009 -- Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Mark Udall introduced a bipartisan bill that would create a tax credit for consumers and businesses who invest in water-saving appliances. The credit would be similar to the Energy Star credit for purchasing energy-efficient appliances, and could save families as much as $170 a year. The bill was also introduced in the House of Representatives by Colorado Republican Mike Coffman.

In a speech about the legislation on the Senate floor, Senator Udall said it is a win-win for consumers and water supplies in Colorado and across the country.    » read more »
