Alaska-Yukon Intergovernmental Accord Renewed in Anchorage

March 3, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Yukon Territory Premier Dennis Fentie last Friday renewed the Alaska-Yukon Intergovernmental Accord.

Alaska Governor Palin Signs House Bill 37 Honoring Susan Butcher

March 1, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today honored the late musher Susan Butcher during a ceremonial bill signing just prior to the start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Anchorage. House Bill 37, sponsored by Representative David Guttenberg, establishes the first Saturday of March as Susan Butcher Day.

Alaska Governor Palin Signs House Bill 317

February 13, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today signed House Bill 317 into law. HB 317 eliminates the limit on compassionate gifts that a legislator or legislative employee may solicit, accept, or receive under the Legislative Ethics Act.

The bill was drafted in an effort to assist Representative Richard Foster, to whom a legislative aide has offered to donate one of her kidneys. Compassionate gifts will still be reported to the Alaska Public Offices Commission to protect the public’s ability to know how elected officials are compensated.    » read more »

Alaska Town Hall Meetings on the AGIA Gasline Process Announced

Alaska Governor Palin Signs ‘Safe Haven’ Bill Into Law

Bill allows parents to surrender newborns without prosecution

February 11, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin signed House Bill 29 into law today. The “Safe Haven for Infants Act” passed the State House in May and passed the Senate on January 19. The bill allows a parent to safely surrender a newborn child without the threat of prosecution, as long as there is no evidence the infant has been physically injured.    » read more »
