Grants will help the elderly and disabled, boost energy efficiency and create jobs

May 11, 2009 -- WASHINGTON - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Donovan today announced that HUD is offering nearly $1 billion to make substantial improvements to thousands of public housing units nationwide.

The Public Housing Capital Funds being offered today are provided through The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) and are designed to help selected public housing authorities improve the quality of their housing stock, promote energy efficiency and create jobs.    » read more »

May 11, 2009 -- BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear today announced that the Housing Authority of Bowling Green (HABG) has been awarded $2,032,551 from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to help low-income families and individuals purchase homes that have been foreclosed and abandoned in the wake of the country’s economic crisis.

“Vacant housing can have a very negative impact on neighborhoods by inviting crime and blight and bringing down surrounding property values,” said Gov. May 11, 2009 -- MAYFIELD, Ky. – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear today announced that the Purchase Area Housing Corporation (PAHC) has been awarded $1,372,500 from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to help stabilize communities in southwestern Kentucky that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment.

PAHC, which serves the eight-county Purchase Area Development District region, will use the funds to acquire, rehabilitate and resell foreclosed and abandoned properties that might otherwise become sources blight within neighborhoods.    » read more »

Capital Health Project is the largest in History of HUD’s FHA

WASHINGTON, DC, April 8, 2009 -- In the largest single transaction of its 75 year history, the Federal Housing Administration today announced that it has finalized a deal to insure a $756 million mortgage for Capital Health of Trenton, New Jersey. The loan is made possible through the FHA's Section 242 Hospital Mortgage Insurance Program.
