Ford Canada Sales Up 24% Driven By Strong Car Performance

Third-quarter results mark a 26% increase in sales: best quarterly sales increase since 2003

OAKVILLE, Ontario, October 1, 2009 – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited saw sales increase 24.3 per cent compared to last September marking the company's fourth consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

Strong car sales led by the all-new Ford Taurus, Fusion, Focus and Mustang resulted in more than half of all vehicle sales for Ford of Canada. Raytheon wins Phalanx contract from Canadian Navy

Raytheon awarded $154.8 million Phalanx weapon system overhaul and conversion contract

CALGARY, Alberta, June 23, 2009 -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a $154.8 million contract from the Canadian Navy to conduct 30 sets of overhauls and convert 21 Phalanx close-in weapon systems.

The contract calls for Raytheon to convert the Phalanx Block 1B Baseline 0 to a Baseline 1 configuration and to provide repair services and spares, as well as additional engineering and technical support. The work will be performed at Raytheon Canada Limited Support Services in Calgary, Alberta.    » read more »

Shell to Offer Wheat Straw Biofuel

Shell first to sell gasoline blended with advanced biofuel

10/06/2009 -- From today, customers at a Shell service station will become the first in the world to fill their tanks with gasoline containing advanced biofuel made from wheat straw.

For one month starting June 10, the regular gasoline purchased at a Shell service station in Ottawa, Canada will contain 10% cellulosic ethanol. The biofuel is produced locally from non-food raw materials at Iogen Energy Corporation’s demonstration plant, using advanced conversion processes. Iogen and Shell are partners in the plant, which now produces 40,000 litres of fuel per month.    » read more »

Washington, DC -- June 9, 2009 -- A three-member NAFTA arbitration tribunal rejected a $50 million claim filed by the Canadian mining company, Glamis Gold Ltd., challenging certain actions taken by the Department of the Interior (DOI) and certain measures adopted by the State of California relating to land reclamation in connection with proposed open-pit mining operations. American Airlines Cashless Cabins Begin June 1 On US Domestic and Canada Flights

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 27 -- On June 1, American Airlines will go cashless onboard flights within the continental United States, as well as flights to and from Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada. Effective Monday, for inflight purchases such as headsets, fresh meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages, American will accept major credit or debit cards only.
