02 October 2007 -- The United States said Tuesday it has approved a draft six-nation accord under which North Korea will declare and disable its nuclear programs by the end of the year in exchange for aid and diplomatic benefits. China is expected to release the document within the next day or two.

Turkish Military Chief Reaffirms Need for Iraq Incursion
27 June 2007 -- The head of Turkey's armed forces has again stressed the need for a cross-border operation against Kurdish guerrillas based in Iraq.
But General Yasar Buyukanit said Wednesday that the Turkish government would have to set guidelines for such an incursion.
He called for a cross-border operation in April to attack Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, fighters who Turkey says are launching attacks on Turkey from Iraq.

15 May 2007 -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has called for Iran to release an Iranian-American academic accused of "crimes against national security."
Ms. Rice told reporters in Moscow that the detainment of scholar Haleh Esfandiari "underscores the nature of the Iranian regime." She said Ms. Esfandiari ought to be released immediately.
