NASA Awards Ground Equipment Contract for Kennedy Space Center

June 6, 2008 -- CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA has selected contractors for a multiple award contract to provide fabrication of ground support equipment for Constellation and other space programs at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The multiple award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has a maximum value of $400 million during a five-year ordering period, with potential for a one-year extension.

High turnover and poor retention hurting ability to oversee defense contracting

Pentagon Seeks to Limit Procurement Cost Growth, Official Says

WASHINGTON, June 3, 2008 – The Defense Department is working to limit the growth of procurement costs for new equipment, the Pentagon’s top acquisition official reported in written testimony submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee today.

“Has there been cost growth in some DoD programs? Yes, and I’m not here to condone it,” John J. Young Jr., undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, noted in his written testimony.

“Indeed, I am seeking to strictly limit cost growth,” Young emphasized.

The Senate committee is concerned about a recent Government Accountability Office report citing cost growth of nearly $300 billion across 95 defense acquisition programs. The GAO is an investigative arm of Congress.    » read more »

NJ Governor Corzine On Superintendent Contracts

May 28, 2008 -- Newark – New Jersey Governor Corzine said today that he has asked State Education Commissioner Lucille Davy to review superintendent contracts for all of the state’s 31 Abbott districts to ensure they comply with state law and reflect an efficient expenditure of funds.

“We have asked each of the Abbott district superintendents to provide their contracts to be reviewed,” said Governor Corzine. “We will have to work our way through this in the context of how many people we have and the priorities we make. NASA Awards Agency-Wide Protective Services Contract to Coastal International Security, Inc.

May 21, 2008 -- WASHINGTON -- NASA has awarded its consolidated protective services contract to Coastal International Security, Inc. of Lorton, Va. The contract has a maximum value of $1.56 billion, if all options are exercised.

Work under the contract will provide fire services, security services, emergency management, export control, protective services information assurance/technology security, and protective services training throughout the agency.
