Alaska Governor Palin Orders Flags Lowered for LifeGuard Flight Victims
December 12, 2007, Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff in memory and honor of the four people onboard a medical transport helicopter that disappeared more than a week ago over Prince William Sound.
The air ambulance was en route from Cordova to Anchorage when it disappeared December 2, 2007. The body of flight nurse John Stumpff was recovered. Still missing are pilot Lance Brabham, 42, of Soldotna; paramedic Cameron Carter, 24, of Kenai, and patient Gaye McDowell, 60, of Cordova. » read more »
Kentucky Governor Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Three Fort Campbell Soldiers Killed In Iraq
December 06, 2007 -- FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of three Fort Campbell soldiers who died in the line of duty.
According to the Department of Defense, the soldiers, who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, died from wounds suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device in Bayji, Iraq. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell. » read more »
Nebraska Gov. Heineman Orders Flags to Half-Staff
December 6, 2007 -- (Lincoln, NE) Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman today ordered that all U.S. and state flags in Nebraska be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of yesterday’s mall shooting in Omaha.
Flags were to be lowered for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Friday, Dec. 7, following a proclamation signed earlier this week by President George W. Bush. Flags in Nebraska will be lowered today and remain at half-staff through Sunday, Dec. 9. » read more »
