April 04, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of an airman who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Travis L. Griffin, 28, of Dover, Delaware, died April 3 near Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 377th Security Forces Squadron, Kirtland AFB, N.M.

April 03, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Dayne D. Dhanoolal, 26, of Brooklyn, New York, died March 31 in Baghdad, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.

April 02, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Jevon K. Jordan, 32, of Norfolk, Virginia, died Mar. 29 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, from wounds suffered Mar. 23 in Abu Jassim, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive.
He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

April 01, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
They died March 29 in Baghdad from wounds suffered when they encountered an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.
They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.
Killed were:
Spc. Durrell L. Bennett, 22, of Spanaway, Washington, and
Pfc. Patrick J. Miller, 23, of New Port Richey, Florida

April 01, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Terrell W. Gilmore, 38, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died March 30 in Baghdad, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
He was assigned to the 769th Engineer Battalion of the Louisiana Army National Guard in Baton Rouge.

Remains Found in Iraq Identified as Belonging to Army Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin
Mar 31, 2008 -- The U.S. Army confirmed positive identification of remains found last week in Iraq as belonging to Army Staff Sgt. Keith "Matt" Maupin. The March 31, 2008, announcement culminates a near four-year search for the 724th Transportation Company Army Reserve Soldier. "After a long wait, we want to offer our most sincere condolences to Carolyn and Keith Maupin on the loss of their son," said Army Secretary Pete Geren.
"I want to say this once again to the Families of our other captured Soldiers in Iraq," Geren said, "we will not stop searching for your loved ones, Army Sgt. Ahmed K. They died March 24 in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive on March 23.
They were assigned to the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.
Killed were:
Pvt. George Delgado, 21, of Palmdale, California.
Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Hake, 26, of Enid, Oklahoma.
Pfc. Andrew J. Habsieger, 22, of Festus, Missouri.
Spc. Jose A. Rubio Hernandez, 24, of Mission, Texas.

NJ Governor Corzine Orders Flags To Fly At Half-Staff To Honor United States Army Staff Sergeant William R. Neil, Jr.
March 28, 2008 -- TRENTON – In honor of United States Army Staff Sergeant William R. Neil, Jr., New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine signed the following Executive Order calling for the United States and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Monday, March 31, 2008.

Maine Governor Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff on March 31
March 28, 2008 -- AUGUSTA – In remembrance and honor of Private First Class Tyler Jacob Smith, Maine Governor John E. Baldacci has directed that the United States flag and the State of Maine flag be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday, March 31, 2008.
PFC Smith died as a result of wounds received from indirect fire in Iraq on Friday, March 21, 2008.
His funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday at the West Parish Congregational Church, 10 Church Street in Bethel.
