SEC Charges KBR and Halliburton for FCPA Violations

Washington, D.C., Feb. 11, 2009 — The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced settlements with KBR, Inc. and Halliburton Co. to resolve SEC charges that KBR subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root LLC bribed Nigerian government officials over a 10-year period, in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), in order to obtain construction contracts. Senator Kerry Demands Answers from Pentagon on KBR Providing Dirty Water to Troops in Iraq

03/10/2008 -- WASHINGTON DC – Senator John Kerry sent a letter to the Pentagon today, demanding to know how unsafe water was given to troops in Iraq by defense contractor KBR Inc. and what steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence. GAO Finds Problems with KBR Defense Department Contract in Iraq

August 09, 2007 -- House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Waxman releases a GAO report analyzing the Defense Department’s decision to pay KBR nearly all of the $221 million in costs that the Defense Contract Audit Agency questioned during its audits of the Restore Iraqi Oil contract for reconstruction work on Iraq’s oil infrastructure. The report finds multiple violations of federal acquisition regulations and procedures, placing millions of taxpayer dollars at risk and leaving questions unanswered.

Centurum, Inc., Marlton, N.J., and Scientific Research Corp., Atlanta, Ga., were each awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-incentive-fee/cost-plus-fixed-fee/fixed- priced multiple award contracts on July 10, 2007, for network centric services.

These two contractors may compete for the task orders under the terms and conditions of the awarded contract. The aggregate value of all task orders awarded over the life of these two contracts will be approximately $420,000,000.    » read more »
