State To Provide $15 Million to Support New Sodium Battery Manufacturing Plant; Facility Would Create 350 New Jobs in Upstate New York

May 12, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson and General Electric (GE) Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt today announced that GE has proposed the establishment of a new sodium battery manufacturing facility in the Capital Region that would also create 350 new jobs.

The announcement is the latest success in Governor Paterson’s bold clean energy agenda, which is positioning New York as a global leader in energy efficiency and renewable energy technology. April 21, 2009 -- RICHMOND – Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Owens-Illinois, Inc. (O-I), a manufacturer of glass containers for food, beer, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages, will invest $20 million to upgrade equipment at its manufacturing plant in James City County. The facility improvements, made possible through a public-private collaboration, will take place during the next 12 to 24 months and will enhance the energy efficiencies and technological capabilities of the plant. Edgecombe County, NC Manufacturer to Add 120 Jobs

State Grant Helps Boat Builder Expand in Tarboro

3/10/2009 - North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue announced today that HC Composites, a national manufacturer of twin-hull boats, plans to expand its Tarboro operations. The company will invest $2.65 million and create 120 jobs in the next three years. The announcement was made possible in part by a $130,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

“Boat manufacturing is an important part of our economy and the state’s heritage,” Gov. Perdue said. “Our skilled workforce and top-ranked business climate are among the many reasons that homegrown companies such as HC Composites continue to flourish and expand in this great state.”

The 120 new jobs will pay an average of $29,560 a year, not including benefits.    » read more »

Governor Awards $177,000 in CDBG Funding to Support Operations

June 17, 2008 -- Columbus, Neb. -- Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman was among those celebrating the opening of a new business today. Katana Summit, LLC, selected Columbus as the site for its new manufacturing facility.

At the event, the Governor announced $177,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to help city and county officials construct a road to provide access to the site. Katana Summit manufactures 80 and 90 meter steel wind turbine towers and the grant will help build and pave a road to support traffic at the facility.    » read more »
