Dolly Parton shared the honors with Charlie Daniels and Kid Rock, as well as the late Ernest Tubb and Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge founder Hattie Louise “Tootsie” Bess.

April 28, 2009 -- Oklahoma City -- Surrounded by fans of internationally celebrated rock band The Flaming Lips, Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry today signed an executive order proclaiming the group’s song, “Do You Realize??,” the official rock song of Oklahoma. The action took place at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

The recognition comes after an online vote held late last year. In that statewide contest, the Flaming Lips’ song, from the 2002 compact disc “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,” drew 51 percent of more than 21,000 votes cast.    » read more »

First Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Location outside Cleveland to Open in SoHo in November

August 13, 2008 -- New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Billy Joel, Clive Davis, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Terry Stewart and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation CEO Joel Peresman today announced that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will open an annex in New York City in the heart of SoHo.

When the 25,000 square foot annex opens in November, it will be the first location outside the Museum's home in Cleveland. NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta and Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kate D.
