Venezuela: Venezuela Threatens to Eject US Oil Giant ConocoPhillips
03 May 2007 -- Venezuela has threatened to eject U.S.-based oil giant ConocoPhillips from the country if it continues to resist the government's takeover of its multi-billion-dollar operations.
On Tuesday, Venezuela took control of four oil projects along the Orinoco River from their foreign operators.
ConocoPhillips was the only company that refused to sign an accord recognizing the takeover.
Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez Thursday told state television that any company that does not accept the new terms will have to leave. » read more »

May 1, 2007, Juneau, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today announced that she is launching a comprehensive assessment of the condition of Alaska’s oil and gas infrastructure. Referred to as a “risk assessment,” the effort is fundamentally an engineering analysis involving a thorough, independent appraisal of the condition of the state’s oil and gas facilities. Chevron to Pay $1 Million in Civil Settlement for 2006 Oil Spill Into Arthur Kill
April 25, 2007 -- TRENTON – New Jersey Attorney General Stuart Rabner and Criminal Justice Director Gregory A. Paw today announced that Chevron has agreed to pay $1 million for spilling more than 10,000 gallons of crude oil into the Arthur Kill last year.
The funds paid by Chevron in the civil settlement with the Attorney General’s Office will be used by NY/NJ Baykeeper for a project to reestablish oyster beds in New York/New Jersey Harbor in the area of the Arthur Kill and Raritan Bay. » read more »
Alaska Governor Palin Signs Administrative Order Creating Petroleum Systems Integrity Office
April 18, 2007, Juneau, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today announced the “Petroleum Systems Integrity Office” (PSIO), her initiative to ensure Alaska’s oil and gas infrastructure will get the maintenance and inspection it needs to operate safely for decades to come.
