TORRANCE, Calif., March 4, 2010 – Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., has received verifiable information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about some vehicles whose owners have reported unintended acceleration after receiving the accelerator pedal recall remedies. As soon as Toyota received the vehicle owner information from NHTSA, it moved quickly to evaluate the vehicles and interview the owners.
Although most of these reports have yet to be verified, Toyota has been and remains committed to investigating all reported incidents of sudden acceleration in its vehicles quickly. Toyota Owners Advised of Actions to Take Regarding Two Separate Recalls
February 1, 2010 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration today informed owners of certain Toyota, Lexus and Pontiac Vibe vehicles about the actions they should take if their accelerator gets stuck or is slow to return under certain conditions.

2010-01-29 -- "Amid the media attention over the Toyota recalls for possible unintended acceleration that include the Pontiac Vibe, many customers are wondering whether it is safe to drive their 2009 and 2010 models of the Vibe.
Based on GM’s experience, the Vibe is safe to drive.
Prior to the Toyota accelerator pedal recall of Jan. 21 and the inclusion of the Vibe in the October 2009 recall for floor mat entrapment, GM had not received any relevant customer complaints in the 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe. Rep. DeLauro on Tylenol Recall Expansion
January 15, 2010 -- Washington, DC -- Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today in response to the expanded recall of Tylenol products.
A report by the Food and Drug Administration shows that McNeil Healthcare, LLC, the Johnson & Johnson division that manufactures Tylenol, received complaints about an uncharacteristic musty odor emanating from Tylenol Arthritis Relief Caplets in 2008. After multiple consumer complaints of stomach problems, a recall was initiated in September of 2009. The FDA investigated, and has determined that the quality control testing at McNeil failed, as did the company’s response and notification of the public. » read more »

NHTSA Consumer Advisory: Lerado Recalls 5,540 Mia Moda Seats and Bases
October 30, 2009 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is alerting consumers to immediately stop using Mia Moda Viva and Viva Supreme infant child restraint systems due to safety defects. Owners will need to obtain another seat; young children should never be transported in a motor vehicle without a proper safety restraint system.
Lerado, the manufacturer, is recalling 5,540 seats and bases because they could fail to adequately restrain a child in the event of a crash. The restraint’s harness splitter plate located on the rear of the seat has sharp edges which could cut the harness straps. In addition, the restraint’s base is vulnerable to cracking during a crash. » read more »

NHTSA Alert: RECARO Recalls “Signo” Child Safety Seats
March 9, 2009 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is alerting consumers of a recall involving RECARO “Signo” child safety seats.
RECARO is recalling these convertible child safety seats because the central front adjuster strap on some seats may slip within the metal adjuster (A-Lock) that controls the tightness of the harness straps, thereby preventing those straps from being tightened enough to properly secure a child in the seat. The affected models include RECARO Signo seats manufactured from February through September 2008.
