Taxpayers have until Nov. 30 to take advantage of the tax savings

Nov. 5, 2009 -- CHARLESTON, W.Va.— West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin today reminded West Virginians that the last day to take advantage of the State’s second ENERGY STAR® Sales Tax Holiday is Nov. 30, 2009.

Since Sept. 1, West Virginians will not have to pay sales and use tax on certain ENERGY STAR® qualified products valued at $5,000 or less. Tangible personal property for use in a trade or business is not subject to this sales tax holiday.    » read more »

Virginia Governor Kaine Encourages Virginians to Use Energy Sales Tax Holiday Starting Today

Consumers can purchase energy-efficient products tax free October 9-12; claim state rebates and federal credits on qualifying products

October 09, 2009 -- RICHMOND – Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine today encouraged Virginians to take advantage of the state's third annual sales tax holiday on ENERGY STAR and WaterSense-qualified products. During this annual holiday, which will take place October 9-12, consumers can save money by buying certain qualified products tax-exempt, which will also deliver savings for years to come through lower home utility bills.

August 04, 2009 -- HUNTSVILLE - As the 2009-2010 school year approaches, families in need of back-to-school clothing and supplies will again be able to take advantage of exceptional savings thanks to Alabama’s fourth annual Sales Tax Holiday.

May 13, 2009 -- CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin today issued an executive order that temporarily suspends the consumer sales and service tax and the use tax on purchase and use of certain building construction materials and supplies, mobile homes, house trailers, modular homes and similar units, as well as supplies for flood relief that would substantially improve efforts to restore and reconstruct flood-affected property in Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming counties – all areas on the governor’s May 9 State of Emergency declaration.

August 22, 2007 -- TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Miami-Dade County man was sentenced to 17 months in prison after pleading guilty to criminal charges of stealing state sales tax and grand theft. Florida Governor Crist Announces Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

April 30, 2007 -- TALLAHASSEE – Florida Governor Charlie Crist today signed into law House Bill 211 establishing a sales tax holiday from June 1 through June 12, 2007, for hurricane preparedness items.
