October 5, 2009 -- Detroit, MI — Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (MI-13) today announced that General Dynamics Land Systems of Sterling Heights has been awarded a $430 million contract from the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC).
Under the five-year contract, General Dynamics Land Systems will provide manufacturing and engineering services to assist TARDEC with its core focus areas, including system engineering, intelligent ground systems, vehicle electronics and architecture, and software. » read more »
Army Awards Raytheon $13 Million to Improve Situational Awareness for Pilots
MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 7, 2009 -- The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) a $13 million contract to develop additional sensor prototypes for the Advanced Distributed Aperture System, which gives helicopter pilots 360-degree situational awareness.
The award is the first extension of the Joint Capability Technology Demonstration contract, initially funded in September 2008.
The Army launched the ADAS program to assist pilots flying at low levels. The original system provides up to six infrared sensors and a combined helmet display showing a full view of the cockpit and other parts of the helicopter, including the engines and tail rotor. » read more »

Senator Byrd Announces Army Contract Award to Alliant Techsystems
September 15, 2009 -- Washington, DC – Senator Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., today announced the award of a $9.7 million Department of the Army contract to Alliant Techsystems (ATK) located at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) in Rocket Center. The monies will be used for the continued production of fuses for the M-228 Practice Grenade. Raytheon Team Picks Up US Army Battle Command Development Contract
FORT MONMOUTH, N.J., May 26, 2009 -- A team led by Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) received an indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity award for the U.S. Army Battle Command Development contract.
The Battle Command Development contract, managed by the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command, is a five-year, multi-award vehicle worth up to $777.4 million.
The award enables the Raytheon team to compete for task orders that will enhance and maintain the capabilities of the Army Battle Command System. Senator Crapo Assists Army Decision To Upgrade Attack Helicopters, Training
May 15, 2009 -- Washington, DC. – Following months of consultations involving Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, Idaho Army National Guard personnel, and Congressional and Guard representatives from other states, the U.S. Army has agreed on an upgrade of the Apache helicopter fleet stationed at Boise’s Gowen Field.
