Navistar Defense LLC, Warrenville, Ill., is being awarded an $84,832,901 firm-fixed-priced modification to delivery order #0004 under a previously awarded contract (M67854-07-D-5032) for sustainment items needed to support CAT I Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) vehicles in theater. This order will also be used to support several engineering change proposals to increase the vehicles’ capabilities and FSR support. Work will be performed in WestPoint, Miss., and work is expected to be completed April 2009. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Other location of performance is Bagram Air Base Afghanistan. Using service is Army. This was proposal was originally Web solicited with one response. This contract is for a period of two years with a one year option. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The date of performance completion is Sept. 1, 2011. DoD Announces Army Casualty: Sgt. James A. McHale, 31, of Fairfield, Montana

July 31, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. James A. McHale, 31, of Fairfield, Montana, died July 30 at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., of wounds suffered July 22 in Diyala Province, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Spc. Seteria L. Brown, 22, of Orlando, Florida

July 28, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Seteria L. Brown, 22, of Orlando, Florida, died July 25 in Sharana, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident.

She was assigned to the 62nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood Texas.

The incident is under investigation.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty: Pfc. Ivan I. Wilson, 22, of Clearlake, California

July 23, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pfc. Ivan I. Wilson, 22, of Clearlake, California, died July 21 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty: 1st Lt. Nick A. Dewhirst, 25, of Onalaska, Wisconsin

July 21, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

1st Lt. Nick A. Dewhirst, 25, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, died July 20 in the Qalandar District of the Khost Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his convoy came under attack by individuals using rocket propelled grenades and small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Pfc. Willington M. Rhoads, 23, of Las Vegas, Nevada

July 18, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pfc. Willington M. Rhoads, 23, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died July 16 in Bagram, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident.

He was assigned to the 173rd Brigade Support Battalion (Airborne), Vicenza, Italy.

The incident is under investigation.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Staff Sgt. David W. Textor, 27, of Roanoke, Virginia

July 17, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. David W. Textor, 27, of Roanoke, Virginia, died Jul 15 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a vehicle incident.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, Wash.

The incident is under investigation.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Vrooman, 28, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota

July 16, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Vrooman, 28, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Jul 15 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated while his unit was conducting combat operations in Kn'an, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Vilseck, Germany.

DoD Identifies Nine Army Casualties

July 16, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of nine soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died of wounds suffered when their outpost was attacked by small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades from enemy forces in Wanat, Afghanistan, on July 13.

They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503d Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy.

Killed were:

1st Lt. Jonathan P. Brostrom, 24, of Hawaii.

Sgt. Israel Garcia, 24, of Long Beach, Calif.

Cpl. Jonathan R. Ayers, 24, of Snellville, Ga.

Cpl. Jason M. Bogar, 25, of Seattle, Wash.
