Turkey Partners With U.S. In "War On Terrorism"

4/18/2007 - INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey (AFNEWS) -- In just three days, forces from the United States, Turkey and Afghanistan worked together on a joint mission to transport more than 135,000 pounds of Turkish equipment and supplies from Incirlik Air Base to Kabul AB, Afghanistan.

The Turkish equipment was loaded onto an American C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the 385th Air Expeditionary Group here.    » read more »

4/18/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNEWS) -- Coalition airpower supported coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations April 17, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles dropped guided bomb unit-38s on an enemy firing position behind a wall near Kajaki Dam. An on-scene joint terminal attack controller reported a direct hit and small arms fire ceased.    » read more »

Month Recognizes Military Children's Sacrifices

4/18/2007 - HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii (AFNEWS) -- April has been the month for celebrating military children for 21 years, which recognizes the important sacrifices they make for the military family.

Month of the Military Child is a well-deserved accolade, said Kathy Hartwell, the Pacific Air Forces Services Family Member Programs branch chief.

Ready Reserve Push-Pull 2007 Exercise Slated For June

4/18/2007 - DENVER (AFNEWS) -- More than 300 Individual Ready Reserve Airmen will participate in a Defense Department-required exercise in June, which conducts an end-to-end test of key mobilization processes and systems.

The Air Force will begin Exercise Push-Pull 2007 June 18 when officials will "push" about 320 IRR Airmen, or about 1 percent of the IRR, to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, for a five-day, active-duty tour.

From Lackland AFB, about 100 of these Airmen will be "pulled" to other locations and continue on active duty through June 29.    » read more »

Air Force awards 10 university research teams $60 million

4/18/2007 - ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNEWS) -- The Air Force Office of Scientific Research here announced in April plans to fund 10 awards totaling about $60 million over five years to 29 academic institutions to perform multidisciplinary basic research.

The award is the result of the fiscal 2007 competition AFOSR conducted under the Department of Defense Multi-disciplinary University Research Initiative, or MURI, program. This is a multi-agency Department of Defense program that supports research teams whose efforts intersect more than one traditional science and engineering disciplines.    » read more »
