11/11/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 10, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Navy F/A-18 Hornets struck a cave with guided bomb unit-12s in Bagram. The cave was being used by enemy combatants as a fighting position. The mission was reported as a success by the on-scene joint terminal attack controller.    » read more »

New Mexico Gov. Lowers Flags to Half Staff in Honor of Air Force Civilian Counterintelligence Specialist Nathan Schuldheiss

November 9, 2007 -- SANTA FE – New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson ordered flags to fly at half-staff in honor of United States Air Force civilian counterintelligence specialist Nathan Schuldheiss, 27, who lost his life while serving his country near Balad Air Base, Iraq, on Thursday, November 1, 2007.

Special Agent Schuldheiss attended high school in Albuquerque and was a 1998 graduate of La Cueva High School. Schuldheiss earned a political science degree from Gonzaga University and a law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law. He was hired by the Air Force in 2005.    » read more »

11/5/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- Coalition ground forces are able to keep the enemy on the run in Afghanistan's mountainous terrain where roads are extremely limited or simply don't exist because aircrews are able to to get much needed supplies right where they need to be.

For six days, from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1, Airmen achieved more than a 99 percent recovery rate for airdropped supplies in Afghanistan. This equates to more than 400,000 pounds of supplies being delivered to coalition forces.    » read more »

Colorado Governor Ritter Announces New Motion Picture To Be Filmed At U.S. Air Force Academy In Colorado Springs

Nov. 5, 2007 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced today that SummitWorks LLC, an independent film production company based in Park City, Utah, has received approval by the Department of Defense to film its upcoming feature production, Bring Me Men, on the U.S. Air Force Academy installation in Colorado Springs.

Bring Me Men is the first motion picture to be approved by the Pentagon for filming at the United States Air Force Academy. Principal photography is slated for spring and summer 2008.    » read more »

DoD Identifies Three Air Force Casualties: Thomas A. Crowell, David A. Wieger and Nathan J. Schuldheiss

November 02, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of two airmen and a Department of the Air Force civilian who were deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

They died Nov. 1 near Balad Air Base, Iraq, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device. All were assigned as special agents to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

Killed were:

Master Sgt. Thomas A. Crowell, 36, of Neosho, Missouri.

Staff Sgt. David A. Wieger, 28, of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.    » read more »
